Congratulations to all of our showcased photographers, and to all the photographers courageous enough to submit their work to the 2010 Canton Luminaries Photography Competition! Culling the field of nearly 800 prints down to the top 100 was not an easy task and regrettably many strong entries did not make it into the showcase. These featured prints were further refined to arrive at the Curator's Choice, consisting of prints from our 20 strongest competitors.

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category were selected by the public during June's First Friday celebration with over 600 ballots cast. The third, second, and best in show were selected by our illustrious panel of arts professionals from the 20 prints featured in the Curator's Choice. This year's panel of judges included:

M.J. Albacete, Executive Director - Canton Museum of Art
Lynnda Arrasmith, Chief Curator - Canton Museum of Art
Arnold Tunstall, Collections Manager - Akron Art Museum
Mandy Altimus Pond, Archivist - Massillon Museum
Dan Kane, Arts Editor - Canton Repository
Christine Shearer, Principal - Fowler Artistic Resources
Craig Joseph, Curator - Kevin Anderson Gallery
Christian Harwell, Curator - Cyrus Gallery
Mark Ball, Co-Curator - ACME Artists
Tom Wachunas, Art Critic - ArtWACH
Jack McWhorter, Associate Professor - Kent State University, Stark
